Control and A Course in Miracles
A Course in Miracles teaches us that the need for control is really just an illusion. We think we have to control every aspect of our lives, but the truth is, that only leads to more stress and anxiety. The Course encourages us to let go, have faith, and trust that the Universe has our back.
When we stop trying to control everything, that's when we open ourselves up to true peace, joy, and miracles. It's not always easy, but practicing non-attachment and going with the flow can be incredibly freeing. Who knows what awesome surprises might be just around the corner? Once you get the hang of not clinging to expectations and just letting things unfold naturally, it's almost like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Sure, there will always be bumps in the road and curveballs life throws your way, but if you can learn to roll with the punches and adapt as needed, you'll find yourself stressing a lot less. It's all about being present in the moment.
As A Course in Miracles teaches, our constant striving to control outcomes and people is rooted in fear - the belief that we are separate and vulnerable. This striving for control stems from the underlying belief that we are isolated beings, disconnected from a greater whole. Rather than expending energy on futile attempts to manipulate circumstances to help us feel safe and secure, we can redirect our focus inward, cultivating a deeper connection with our true, eternal essence. In doing so, we discover that the very things we sought to control through external means are already present within us – a sense of wholeness, security, and profound love.
The journey towards this realization may be challenging, as it requires us to confront deeply ingrained patterns of thought and behaviour. Yet, as we persist in practicing the principles of A Course in Miracles, we gradually experience a profound transformation – a transition from fear-based control to a state of surrender and trust in the unfolding of the present moment.
When we surrender control and open ourselves to the flow of life, we discover an inner peace and trust that is truly miraculous. The universe has a perfect plan, and by aligning ourselves with that plan, we find the freedom to live with greater ease, joy, and purpose.
Today, I invite you to reflect on where you're holding too tightly. What would it look like to loosen your grip and allow the divine to guide you? The answers may surprise you!
